Pet Shop Rejects: A Christmas Tail. Part Three.

SUPRISE!! I decided enough was enough and finished the lot. This was supposed to be done at Christmas after all.

I've decided this is also my Valentines Day picture set if that's okay with you Mina.

So, last page of the manga. Matt is a bit of an evil minx, ne? Some of you might noticed that Spooky had something to do with this, not just Matt. I decided to bring Spooky in on the act because I could not see Matt convincing Mina to stay in the box so she could greet Batty in his jammies on christmas day. Someone had to help Matt get Mina dressed up and tie the ribbon right. So I decided the one who would be most likely to do that would be Spooky.

The camara is purely so they can capture the moment and show future generations why Matt and Spooky were never seen again. (Kidding. ) You'll be pleased to know that Mina and Batty got their christmas date, right after they'd finished with Matt and Spooky. What was in Batty's present to Mina? I'll leave that up to you. ^_^

I enjoyed this page way more than the others yet it gave me the most trouble. I coloured on completely the wrong layer to begin with so Mina's base colour was above her shading and highlights. The program HATED the sparkels on her dress and changed tools several times without telling me so I had to hit undo repeatedly. The program started giving up so I had large areas of badly failed pixels and I had to close everything and go from where I had started. But it was simple to do and by this point I was clear on what was happening. I re-designed the tree a bit and I think it's better for it.

You'll also noticed that EVERYONE has a slightly different skin tone. That was one of the hardest things to manage. I gave Batty and Matt darker tans inspite of their night time animals because I felt they'd get dragged to fairly hot countries on state visits. Spooky got a darker skin because she seems to active to me. I see her out in the sun working or playing sport so I darkened her skin in responce. Mina and Raven are paler because I see them as more indoor types. Not because they don't like the outdoors but because there work and way of life just keep them out of the sun.

The background in the main pannel is my favorite and least favorite part. I love the light effect I managed, but it detracts from her gown which gave me such trouble. But I wanted to do it from Batty's perspective, the thing he wants most given to him on Christmas day. What colour would the world go when he realised that Mina was with him?

As for Mina, I have no idea why she's wearing socks. I just felt like giving her some cute socks to go with her outfit.

So, Merry Christmas and Happy Valentines Day I hope this worked out the way you wanted it too.

And one small question: How many people knew what the present was as soon as they saw page two?
